Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs was born in 1963 in New York City. He grew up on the Upper West Sid from his early teens, leaving his mother and sibling for a more stable life with his grandmother. Their strong bond and her constant encouragement cultivated Marcs artistic side.

- “She never said no to me to anything”. Marc felt unchained and liberated with his well-travelled and sophisticated grandmother who appreciated aesthetically beautiful things and loved Marc just the way he was.

Due to an abundance of creative and emotional freedom Marc soon embarked on his artistic journey that would begin as a stock-boy at the prestigious Charivari store in New York City. At Charivari he would at the age of 15 start to design sweaters for the store, simultaneously studying fashion and design at Parsons School for Design. Graduating at Parson’s in 1984, Marc was awarded with the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award. Many awards have followed and Marc is still today at the age of 58 truly one of the US’s most forward thinking and successful designers.
